How big was the last BAU?

According to the organiser's figures for 2025, BAU had more than 2,200 exhibitors from 58 countries, 58% of them from abroad, and well over 180,000 visitors, 44% of whom came from outside Germany. Italy, China and Türkiye were the leading exhibitor countries after Germany.

Who on the list could buy from a UK or international supplier?

The most promising contacts are system manufacturers who integrate components into their own products, regional building materials wholesalers, and importers selling under their own brand. Direct competitors are on the list too, and seeing their product groups and halls before the fair tells you how crowded your category is.

In Germany a building product is often won at the specification stage. Architects and planners are a core visitor group at BAU, so technical documentation matters as much as the conversation at the stand.

What paperwork do German buyers expect?

For CE marked construction products a Declaration of Performance is standard, and some products also raise questions about German building authority approvals. Have test reports, the declaration and lead times ready in English or German. Since the fair opens in mid January, settle meeting requests between late November and mid December, before the Christmas break. Marketing email to German businesses needs prior consent under § 7 UWG; a phone call, a LinkedIn introduction or a stand visit is the better first contact.
