The most reliable way to rank trade fairs by size is to compare exhibitor lists counted the same way, rather than organisers' own announcements. The table below ranks the upcoming fairs in Expomatik's directory that have a ready exhibitor list by the number of companies on that list. It is generated from live data and refreshes automatically.
There are currently 70 upcoming fairs with a ready list; the table shows the largest 30. MEDICA 2026 leads with 4,395 companies, and Expomed Eurasia closes the table with 555.
What does the exhibitor count in this ranking measure?
The number in the table is the count of companies on the exhibitor list we compiled. It can differ from the official exhibitor figure the organiser announces, for several reasons:
- Shared stands
- Co-exhibitors on national pavilions and joint stands may be included in official figures but do not always appear as separate companies in the catalogue.
- Catalogue coverage
- The list is compiled from the organiser's public exhibitor catalogue. Companies added late, or never listed, change the count.
- Edition
- The number belongs to one edition of the fair. The next edition can be larger or smaller.
- De-duplication
- Several entries for the same company count once; official figures may count brands or branches separately.
So the table is not an official ranking of the world's largest trade fairs. Because every fair is counted the same way, it does let you compare fairs and see how many companies you could reach. Visitor numbers and exhibition space are separate measures; check the official fair website for those.

The table shows the first 30 of 70 fairs. Every fair with a ready list is on the exhibitor lists page.
Where are the largest fairs concentrated?
The 30 fairs in the table take place in 6 countries. Most are in Germany (17), United States (5), Türkiye (5), United Arab Emirates (1), France (1) and India (1). More than half of the fairs are in a single country, so Germany dominates the ranking.
By sector, the leaders are Construction / Building (2), Plastics (2), Health / Medical (2), Packaging (1), Glass (1) and Electrical / Electronics (1). A fair can belong to more than one sector, so these numbers can add up to more than the number of fairs.
Large European exhibition centres tend to lead on exhibitor numbers because they host the sector gatherings with the most international participation, many of them annual or every two to three years. For a city-by-city view, see trade fairs in Germany; for all markets, see the international trade fair calendar.
Should you choose a fair by size alone?
No. A bigger list means more candidates, not better ones. When you choose a fair as a sales list, check:
- Sector fit: a specialist fair with five hundred exhibitors can beat a general fair with five thousand if few of the larger fair's companies buy what you sell.
- Countries: the fair page shows where exhibitors come from. Size is no help if your target markets are barely represented.
- Email coverage: how many companies on the list have a verified business address? The fair page shows this before you open the list.
- Timing: four to six weeks before the fair is the best window for a first message. A fair that is very close leaves little preparation time.
- Cost: the list price grows with the number of companies. You see the price before opening the list; details are on the pricing page.
How do you use the list of a large fair?
The usual mistake with a large list is sending every company the same message. Narrow the list by country and company role first, then time your messages around the fair date. If you are not going to the fair, the step-by-step plan is in How to Reach Trade Fair Exhibitors Without Attending; if you are, Trade Fair Meeting Request Emails covers the first message. Before emailing, check the rules in Is It Legal to Email Trade Fair Exhibitors?

Frequently asked questions
- What is the largest trade fair in the world?
- It depends on the measure. Organisers report exhibitors, visitors and exhibition space, and each produces a different ranking. This article ranks upcoming fairs by the number of companies on the exhibitor list we compiled, which is a consistent count across fairs but not an official figure.
- Why does the number differ from the organiser's figure?
- Official figures can include co-exhibitors on national pavilions and shared stands, brands counted separately and companies added after the catalogue closed. Our count is the number of distinct companies in the published exhibitor catalogue for that edition.
- Is a bigger fair always better for finding customers?
- No. A specialist fair with a few hundred exhibitors can bring more relevant buyers than a general fair with thousands. Check the sector fit, the countries the exhibitors come from and the share of verified business email addresses before you choose.
